Definitely try treating it naturally first.  I like GSE (2 drops per ounce of water) in the ear and a couple of drops by mouth.  Do both treatments several times a day.

I would give it 3 days of consistent treatment before I went to antibiotics.

Use the probiotics between oral doses of GSE, and continue for at least several days after the infection clears.

If you use the antibiotics keep in mind that the period for probiotics may be as long as 6 months after the abx are stopped.

And garlic - as often and as much as you can get down.  It needs to be bruised or crushed for best results.  Not on an empty stomach!

Let us know how it goes!

I am interested in knowing how long do I leave the sock with salt in it on ds's ear?
Also, is this something I should repeat three - five times daily, sort of treatment?

I had my watch on and jumped in a swimming pool once.  It was not a waterproof watch.  I put it in a canister with rice in it and the rice helped it to dry up and saved the watch from the dump.  That is what the sock with salt in it is reminding me of.
whatever you are - be a good one

I know this is probably a very strange question, but:  Where do I find the "plugged ear thread"?

This is the thread. If you've seen mention or links to the plugged ear thread that are older it's b/c threads were merged after those posts. .

after a couple of rounds of antibiotics that did not help, a very expensive specialist recommended the 1/2 and 1/2 solution of alcohol and vinegar - it was very effective at taking care of the ear infection and as you said, it's a good preventive.
