small white bump on eyeball
« on: June 03, 2011, 01:42:31 PM »
My 5yr old has been suffering from acute allergies lately and seems to have developed pink eye.  Just last night we noticed a small white bump on her eyeball...not eyelid but her actual eyeball.  Her eyes look sore but she says they are not irritating.  Any ideas what this is from?

In my opinion this is a sty... just a pimple that forms on the eyeball from being irritated. I think they're pretty normal.

Usually I just leave them alone, and they go away after a couple days. You can also try soaking a black tea bag in warm water and using it as a compress on the closed eye. The tannic acids are supposed to relieve irritation. But I'm not sure I would do this if I had pinkeye... I would reccomend more research first.

A sty forms on the eyelid.  I think she is describing something different since it is on her dd's eyeball, not eyelid.
