Body odor from detox?
« on: January 05, 2010, 04:58:15 PM »
I am not sure if this is the right place to put this question...I looked around and did not see anything that seemed to pertain to my question, so I thought I'd start here.

My husband has been on intense pain meds for the past six years, and since May of '09 he was put on several others due to a brain injury caused by umm, the meds (ironic huh?)

Anyhow he is almost completely off of all meds, because he had a spinal cord stimulator implanted in late November to relieve his pain and to aim get him off most if not ALL of his meds....these days he takes  an occasional Percocet or Vicoden for some pain not being helped yet by the stimulator and is almost off of extended release 15 mg morphine, and he takes an occasional Valium for stress related issues due to the brain injury.

My question is, we know his body is reacting to the tapering of meds because of diarrhea and over all just feeling yucky, but today he started to have a foul odor that seemed to be coming out of his body through his all of that to ask does anyone know or think that this smell might be a way the body is detoxing itself of the medication?

Thanks in advance!

It sounds likely that it is detoxifying.  :)

You might want to use this product BHS Detox+ or Dr. Shulze's intestinal formulas to help his body detox safely and maybe more quickly as well. The body odor can be intense.  ;) I'd recommend frequent showers. There's some nasty stuff coming out through the skin- our largest elimination organ- and you don't want it to reabsorb.

Here are some additional threads on the topic.

Many of the cleansing, detox, and chelation for candida and heavy metals will yield helpful information for your situation as well.

Biotin posted this on the prayer thread & I'm re-posting it here so I can answer it:

Please pray for me as well.

I've long suffered from bad body odour, particularly from the genital area. I don't really know what the cause is. I've cleaned up my diet a lot, still cleaning up what's left to clean up, and I exercise regularly and pray to have this gone. I also eat a lot more naturally than I did in the past. This odor problem has wreaked havoc on my life, causing me to miss classes and social engagements. My friends all think that I'm antisocial b/c I never spend time with them, but the truth is that the odor is really bad and it's too embarrassing. It's a lonely condition. I really want to go do volunteer work and socialise but the embarassment is too great. Thank you.

Biotin` Hope you don't mind me re-posting your prayer request here but it was a good place to put it so I could answer you with some things that might help. check the following threads:

Have you considered the possibility of a vaginal bacterial infection?  Different from a typical yeast infection, this type of infection is VERY smelly and may or may not have any other symptoms.

Just wondering if you've ruled this one out.

ETA:  I realized that I made a gender assumption.  Obviously, if you are not a female, vaginal infections cannot be the problem.   ::)

Hi, Biotin.  I can totally relate to your prayer request.  I have had very similar problems since puberty.  I also sweat a lot in that particular area.  What has worked the best for me is avoiding sugar and not using soap down there.  It was very scary for me to try no soap, but I figured it couldn't be any worse than it already was.  The results were surprisingly good.  My next step (once I wean my baby) will be to rid my body of yeast overgrowth.  I prayed for you just now, and I hope you are encouraged.
