Amish Spice Cookies
Make dough in evening, refrigerate overnight, bake the next morning.
Sift dry ingredients together.
9 cups flour
1 tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder
3 tsp ginger
2 tsp cinnamon
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, beat well. Then add sorghum and vanilla,
then soda water. Mix dry ingredients into cream mixture.
2 cups butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 cups sorghum(syrup)
2 tsp vanilla
6 tsp soda in 1/4 cup hot water
In the morning roll small balls of dough in a plate of sugar(spoonful)
and put on cookie sheet. DO NOT PRESS FLAT. Bake at 375, 6 minutes
on bottom rack then 6 minutes on top rack. Makes 8 dozen.
