Dill Seed-best way to dry
« on: September 01, 2009, 08:57:27 AM »
I was searching and I didn't see much about dill, so I was wondering, does anyone know the best way to separate those dried dill seeds from the little debris that come off with it?  I put it in a paper bag, and crumpled it, but now I have alot of little pieces with it.  I really can't see trying to pick each seed out, I tried to use a metal strainer, but all the stuff will fit through.  Can you eat the little piece it's attached to?? ;D

It smells really good, I would like to be able to keep it to use, I think it would be great mixed with some bread.

Hi, Wendy!

Did you hang the plant upside down in a paper bag so the seeds would fall?

I believe the whole plant is edible/useful.  ;D

Yes I did do that, I just wasn't sure if I could eat the little pieces with the seeds or not.   ;D  but I just talked to my sis-in-law, and she said the same as you.  I can't wait to use it in bread, it smells sooo good.  I guess I just love dill though. ::)
