Okay gals, I thought I would put Tuna casserole or Tuna Noodle Casserole or something of the like on next weeks menu. (Tuna is a ceap meat) Help. I couldn't find a recipe on here for it. I will look on some other sites later but don't have time right now Thought you gals would have some good ideas. Thanks
Jen
Stovetop variety. (I never bake it).
Egg Noodles (preboiled)
Tuna partially drained
Velveeta or Prepared Cheese Sauce
Peas cooked and drained
Butter (omit if using cheese sauce)
Milk (omit if using cheese sauce)
Mix together and eat.
Prepared Cheese sauce:
You may need to double or triple this, but here's the basic recipe.
2 T Flour
2 T Fat (bacon grease, butter, lard, olive oil or whatever)
1/2 t salt
1/2 t pepper
1 C Milk or water (or combo - depending on how rich and creamy you like it)
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
Heat all ingredients except milk(water) and cheese in pan on medium. Use a fork to mix and break up lumps in your roux. Allow to brown to your preference for more flavor. When roux begins to bubble, add liquid and cheese. Stir until thick. Add to pasta dish, mix and serve. (This is also good over omeletes).
