umbilical hernia

does anyone have information concerning an umbilical hernia occurring in a month old infant??  old timers say to tape a quarter to the navel to hold it the protrusion.  doctors today advise to do nothing and say it should go away by the time the child is two years old.  if not, then can be surgically corrected.  anyone have experience with this problem? thanks!

This problem is now gone.  We were told it would 'probably' go away on its own.  Finally did.  We are quite relieved as it was alarming to see, never having seen one before.  Thanks for your help
