How to recognize organic vs non-organic lemons.
« on: April 19, 2006, 07:09:12 AM »
Okay this probably sounds dumb, but here goes. I bought lemons at my local grocery store they say they are organic, but they are the same color of yellow as the ones that weren't organic. I read in one of the threads that they spray color onto lemons. So my question is this how can you tell which lemons to buy?

Well, don't base your decision on color. We go to Phoenix from time to time... and all the Lemons I see on trees there are quite yellow.

Maybe some of them are colored... but I don't think it is likely that the "organic" ones are... and in any case, most people don't eat the peal (although some actually do...), so its probably safe in either case.

My parents and other relatives have lemon trees which are loaded with beautiful, big, yellow lemons!  And I know they don't spray color on them.   ;D
